My work is engaged with examining evolutionary patterns. To make images this involves researching planetary history across the last 4 billion years. Through this research process I have discovered. How life’s greatest innovators have produced the most impressive creatures of all time but also how humans are destroying so many life forms to create the sixth largest mass extinction of all time.

De-extinction is a project humans are using to bring back extinct species like the woolly mammoth by mixing prehistoric DNA with it’s living ancestor the elephant to create cloned hybrids. Other similar experiments are attempts to de-evolve a chicken back into a dinosaur through editing its DNA. Many have argued that bringing extinct species back is a good or bad thing, either way it’s a fascinating thing, if humans can play god who knows what we could create and the implication of this.

Through the concept of cloned hybrids I have drawn ideas of what creatures could be created should things go right or wrong. By researching into family trees of animals through endless books and documentaries I have created biologically accurate representations of possible creatures that not only make you question science but also make you question what is classed as nature itself.
